Ethnomusicology: Global Field Recordings

Ethnomusicology: Global Field Recordings is a collection of digitized ethnomusicological field recordings, accompanied by field notebooks, interviews, photographs, films, and more. It brings together recordings and related materials from over 60 global sites, spanning Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceana. Highlights include recordings from:

• The Mantle Hood collection, including Javanese audio recordings, personal papers, and slides;
• The Ankica Petrovic collection of Muslim, Christian and Jewish music from Eastern Europe;
• Charlotte Heth's collection of Cherokee music;
• The Harold Courlander collection of music from South America, the Caribbean, South East Asia, and Africa;
• Jacqueline Cogdell DjeDje's collections of African, African American and Jamaican music;
• Robert Garfias’s collections of music recorded across Asia, the Americas, Africa and Europe.

Material types include field recordings and notebooks, educational and studio recordings, interviews, photographs, slides, correspondence, and ephemera.
