The database contains over 750,000 citations and abstracts, which are drawn from articles, books, conference proceedings, bibliographies, catalogues, dissertations, festschriften, iconographies, critical commentaries to complete works, ethnographic recordings and videos, and reviews. It includes records from over 10,000 journals, 140 languages, and 178 countries.
The RILM database is compiled by the RILM (Répertoire International de Littérature Musicale) International Center. It is the electronic version of the print annual publication RILM Abstracts of Music Literature.
