Bibliography of the History of Art (BHA) and Répertoire de la Litterature de l'Art (RILA)
Bibliography of the History of Art (BHA) and Répertoire de la Litterature de l'Art (RILA) are indexes of scholarship on Western art from late antiquity to the early 21st century. These databases, which are searchable together, index scholarly material published between 1975 and 2007. BHA and RILA encompass the fine arts, including painting, sculpture, drawing, prints, and architecture, as well as decorative and applied arts, including crafts, graphic arts, folk art, and popular art.
BHA and RILA contain records for art-related books, conference proceedings, dissertations, exhibition and dealers' catalogs, and articles from over 1200 periodicals in many languages. They are particularly strong in European art from the medieval through modern periods and in indexing of foreign language scholarship.
RILA records date from 1975-1989, while BHA records date from 1990-2007. RILA is the electronic version of the print index RILA (International Repertory of the Literature of Art). RILA merged with the print index RAA (Repertoire d'Art et d'Archéologie) in 1991, producing the database BHA.
