Description

Royal Shakespeare Company Archives is the digitized archives of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), held by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in Stratford-Upon-Avon. It is a comprehensive record of the performance history of the RSC and its predecessor, the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre, from 1889 - 2013. The collection primarily consists over 1,400 prompt books, and for 53 significant productions, it also includes production records, costume designs, music files, and photographs. The company performs the works of Shakespeare as well as a wide range of plays ranging from Ancient Greek drama to new modern works, so the collection may be useful both to students of Shakespeare as well as the field of drama more broadly.
