Making of Modern Law: Supreme Court Records and Briefs, 1832-1978 is a digital collection of nearly all the legal records and briefs brought before the U.S. Supreme Court from 1832 - 1978. It includes transcripts, applications for review, motions, petitions, supplements, memoranda, and other legal documents filed in Cases before the Supreme Court. It does not include Court decisions. Because this collection covers all Supreme Court cases from a broad time period, it is a useful resource for the study of legal history, politics, government, and society.  

There are many options for browsing and searching, such as case name, document type, document file date, opinion date, Supreme Court term year, docket number, U.S. Reports citation, Supreme Court Reporter citation, Lawyer's Edition citation, case heard, and author (counsel) names, including personal and organizational names.
