Tabling Guidelines
Rutgers University Libraries (RUL) follow the Rutgers University Guidelines for Tabling in University Buildings. Tabling activities are intended to advance the Rutgers University Libraries mission, vision, and values. Tabling in the library is permitted only for information distribution. Fundraising, ticket sales, the sale of items, and employee recruitment are not permitted in Rutgers University Libraries. There is no charge for tabling in Rutgers University Libraries.
Rutgers students, staff, and faculty may request to table at a RUL library by completing a form at least one week in advance of the event to ensure that the group can be accommodated. Each library unit (Rutgers University–Camden, Rutgers University–Newark, Rutgers University–New Brunswick, Rutgers Health) will review the request for tabling and contact any appropriate university office prior to approving the tabling event.
These guidelines apply to all requests, including, but not limited to, requests from unit directors and student groups.
The Rutgers University Libraries guidelines add the following notices:
- Rutgers University student organizations, departments, centers, institutes, and programs may request to reserve a table in designated areas of libraries offering tabling. The following libraries allow tabling:
- Health Sciences: Robert Wood Johnson Library, Smith Library
- Rutgers – Camden: Robeson Library
- Rutgers – New Brunswick: Alexander Library, Carr Library, Douglass Library, Library of Science and Medicine
- Rutgers – Newark: Dana Library
- The name of the Rutgers group reserving the table must be displayed on the table.
- All table events must adhere to the Rutgers Filming and Photography Guidelines and the Libraries Guidelines for Fielding Requests to Film or Photograph in Library Facilities.
- No amplified sound is allowed.
- All walkways and hallways must be kept clear.
- Food and drink are not permitted during tabling events.
- Library locations may prohibit glitter, confetti, sand, or other items that require additional cleaning.
- The group is responsible for removal of all trash, decorations, and signage. Please allow sufficient time for cleanup so that the next scheduled table event is not delayed.
