Rutgers University Libraries are the host of this year’s Ex Libris Northeast User Group Conference, to be held on Thursday, Oct. 17 and Friday, Oct. 18 at Alexander Library on the College Avenue campus of Rutgers University–New Brunswick. Some of the conference sessions will take place at the adjacent School of Communication and Information.
The Ex Libris Northeast User Group is a regional group consisting of institutions using Ex Libris products in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Ex Libris has a suite of software solutions (most notably Voyager, Aleph, Alma, Primo, and SFX) to optimize library management, research, teaching, and learning in higher education. The group has held annual conferences since 1997.
Amy Wolfe will deliver the keynote address, “Accessibility, Universal Design, and Libraries: Let’s broaden the discussion.” Wolfe is accessibility librarian, associate professor, and open educational resources developer for the City University of New York Office of Library Services and for Brooklyn College. She will discuss how to expand the conversation around accessibility to include not only users but also the librarians and paraprofessionals who are working in the same spaces.
The conference will include a plenary address by Ex Libris representatives Katy Aronoff and Tom Hall, as well as welcoming remarks from Consuella Askew, Rutgers’ vice president for university libraries and university librarian, and Mary Beth Weber, the head of central technical services for Rutgers University Libraries and chair of the conference planning committee.
Representatives from multiple member institutions will lead breakout sessions. Presenters from Rutgers University Libraries (in order of appearance during the conference) include Abigail DiPaolo, Anne Marie Latini, Andres Martinez, Joseph Deodato, Bret McCandless, Elizabeth York, Sungmin Park, Christopher Sterback, and Yang Yu.
The full conference schedule can be found on the Ex Libris Northeast User Group website.
