On Exhibit at Robeson Library: NEA Big Read/Sitting Pretty: The View from My Ordinary Resilient Disabled Body by Rebekah Taussig
Camden
Paul Robeson Library, in partnership with the Rutgers–Camden Center for the Arts, is hosting an exhibit for the NEA Big Read/Sitting Pretty: The View from My Ordinary Resilient Disabled Body by Rebekah Taussig now through March 31, 2023.
“Writing about the rhythms and textures of what it means to live in a body that doesn’t fit, Rebekah reflects on everything from the complications of kindness and charity, living both independently and dependently, experiencing intimacy, and how the pervasiveness of ableism in our everyday media directly translates to everyday life.”
Complimentary copies of Taussig’s book will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and participants will have the opportunity to contribute writing prompts to an installation piece constructed by the Rutgers-Camden Center for the Arts.
Launched in 2006, the NEA Big Read aims to inspire meaningful conversations, artistic responses, and new discoveries and connections in participating communities. In partnership with Arts Midwest, the NEA supports programming centered around one of 15 different contemporary books.
