Universitywide
April is Jazz Appreciation Month!
Did you know our Institute of Jazz Studies (IJS) at Dana Library is the world's foremost jazz archives and research library?
Founded in 1952 by pioneer jazz scholar Marshall Stearns (1908–1966), the Institute has been a pioneering institution in the preservation of and access to jazz heritage. IJS relocated from Stearns' apartment to Rutgers University–Newark in 1966 and is part of the Rutgers University Libraries. In 1994, IJS moved to spacious new quarters on the fourth floor of the John Cotton Dana Library. The Institute serves a broad clientele, including teachers, scholars, musicians, the media, record companies, filmmakers, and arts agencies.
Please visit libraries.rutgers.edu/ijs to learn more about the Institute and connect with our amazing jazz librarians!
