Apply for OAT Course Redesign Award

The OAT Course Redesign awards $2,500 in research funds to full- or part-time faculty/instructors or curriculum developers at Rutgers who make their courses more affordable for their students through the use of low-cost materials, library content, or open educational resources.

While a primary goal of the program is to redesign or enrich courses that reach the most students, we recognize the value of using open and affordable materials in all courses.  Applications will be assigned to one of three tracks. The tracks are:

  • Track 1: Introduce open and affordable materials into a large course
  • Track 2: Introduce open and affordable materials into a small course < 35 students
  • Track 3: Enrich a course already using open and affordable materials

Applications will be evaluated based on weighted criteria: approach, sustainability, cost savings, and diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA).  Read our statement of OAT participation requirements and evaluation factors or  read our FAQ for tips on submitting a successful application.

Please note the application form and evaluation criteria have changed slightly from previous years. Contact us if you have questions about the application process

Applications for the current cycle will be accepted from February 26 to April 11, 2025 (11:59 pm).
