Digital Scriptorium is a free search portal that allows you to discover medieval and Renaissance manuscripts held by over 30 American libraries, archives, and museums. For each manuscript, Digital Scriptorium includes an extensive description and a limited number of images; in many cases, is does not include images of all pages of the manuscript. Digital Scriptorium offers many search and browse options, including location, language, date, country of origin, format (dated manuscript, document, or figurative decoration), and the institution where the manuscript currently resides.

The original manuscripts are held by over 30 American libraries, museums, and archives. 61 of the manuscripts reside in Rutgers Special Collections and University Archives
