Women and Social Movements, International

Women and Social Movements, International is a collection of digitized primary source materials drawn from more than 300 repositories, including archives, institutions of higher education, and international women's organizations. The collection includes conference proceedings, reports of international women's organizations, publications of women's non-governmental organizations, and letters, diaries, and memoirs of international women activists dating back to the middle nineteenth century. These documents address topics such as war and peace, poverty, child labor, literacy, disease prevention, women's rights, and gender inequality.

There are multiple ways to identify relevant documents within the database. The database can be browsed by archival collection, author/creator, organization, person discussed, place, conference proceeding, letter recipient, or theme. The database also includes a chronology and scholarly essays by experts. The archive is co-published by Alexander Street and the Center for the Historical Study of Women and Gender at SUNY Binghamton.
