Introducing 24/7 Pickup Lockers

Rutgers University Libraries now offers Pickup Lockers for patrons to pick up requested items 24/7! These lockers provide an easy way to retrieve requested media and books, even when a library is closed. Pickup Lockers are currently available outside Douglass and Robeson Libraries, with more library locations coming soon.

How it Works

  1. Request your item(s):
    1. Log in to your Rutgers University Libraries account and request an item via QuickSearch or Interlibrary Loan.
    2. Select "Douglass Library" or "Robeson Library" as your pickup location.
    3. Eligible items requested for either of those two locations will be placed in lockers for pickup.
  2. Keep an eye out for an email stating your item is ready for pickup.

Once your item has been placed into a locker, you will receive an email from Luxer One with a scannable QR code and a six-digit PIN. (Check your Spam folder!)

  3. Pick up your item(s) from the assigned locker within ten days.

Arrive at the kiosk and scan your QR code, enter your PIN, or use the Luxer One mobile app to open your locker. Grab your item(s) and go! Reminder - all items must be picked up within ten days.

FAQs

Where can I find the pickup lockers?

Pickup lockers are now available outside the main entrance of Douglass Library located on the Cook/Douglass campus in New Brunswick and Robeson Library in Camden. More library locations coming soon!

Can I really pick up my item 24/7?

Yes! The library building does not need to be open for you to pick up your item from its assigned locker.

Who can use the pickup lockers?

All individuals with an active Rutgers University Libraries account may request library materials for pickup at a locker location. This includes current Rutgers students, faculty, staff, and affiliate borrowers.

How do I specify a locker location for pickup?

Just follow the steps above!  Note that selecting "Douglass Library" or "Robeson Library" as an item's pickup location in QuickSearch, ILLiad, or EZBorrow will place any eligible items in a pickup locker by default.

Can any library item be picked up from a locker?

Most requests may be delivered via a locker, but some items cannot. Items that are oversized, for library use only, or considered fragile, will be available at the library circulation desk at your chosen location. If your requested item cannot be placed in a locker, you will receive an email from Rutgers Libraries with instructions for pickup at the circulation desk.

I requested a library item but haven't received an email saying it is ready for pickup. What do I do?

You should receive a notification that your item is ready for pickup within two business days of placing your request. Locker pickup notification emails come from Luxer One, not Rutgers. Please check your Spam folder for an email from Luxer One. If you have not received a pickup notification after three business days, contact ask@libraries.rutgers.edu.

My item is ready for pickup! What's next?

Your pickup notification email contains a QR code and a PIN. At the locker kiosk, scan your QR code or enter the provided PIN to unlock your locker and retrieve your item. Alternatively, you may download the Luxer One mobile app to open your locker.

How long do I have to pick up my item?

Items must retrieved from lockers or library desks within ten days. Items not picked up within ten days will be removed from your account and returned to their library location. New requests must be submitted in order to pick up the item after the 10 days has expired.

Are the lockers accessible?

Please email ask@libraries.rutgers.edu with any accessibility-related requests, visit the Luxer One website, or download the Luxer One mobile app to set accessibility settings for your account. All lockers can be opened using the Luxer One mobile app. Pickup locker touchscreen kiosks are placed at a height below 48 inches, and you can choose to have your items delivered exclusively to the ADA-designated lockers which are located between 15" and 48" off the ground.

What is the Luxer One mobile app?

Use the Luxer One mobile app to pick up your library items and manage your account directly from your phone! The app also allows you to edit your accessibility settings.

How can I provide feedback about my Pickup Locker experience?
